On 9.26.2012 The 9/11 Commission stated that 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airliners and carried out suicide attacks against U.S. targets.

Two planes were flown into the towers of the World Trade Center, a third plane hit the Pentagon, and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.

The attacks resulted in extensive death and destruction, triggering major U.S. initiatives to combat terrorism.

Deaths by Area of Attack                                                       Deaths
World Trade Center                                                                   2,606
Airlines                                                                                            246
Pentagon Building                                                                        125
Hijackers                                                                                           19

Total number of people who died in the 9/11 attacks:      2,996

The annual toll from firearms in the US is running at 32,000 deaths and climbing, even though the general crime rate is on a downward path (it is 40% lower than in 1980). http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/sep/21/american-gun-out-control-porter

Every year in the USA, Guns kill 10.68 times the number of 9/11 victims.

NRA Policy sponsor one 9/11 Tragedy every month of every year thanks to their support of indecent policies that foster slavishness to guns without rhyme or reason.

With those facts, is the NRA qualified to speak at all about Guns in the USA?

Shouldn’t the same type of effort that the USA has placed to defeat Al-Qaeda be multiplied by 10 to defeat the scourge of Gun Crime in the USA?
